Open Question: What to do with dry skin issue?

I have just moved from the beach to a super high mountain town & besides my cat and i constantly giving each other static electricity shocks, my skin is so dry that my shoulders, hips and backs of my calves are scabby. I itch a lot and am in a very tiny amount of discomfort due to tightness and a tiny bit of pain. I'm drinking loads of water, putting flax and other oils in my food and applying lotion and oils to my skin twice a day. I'm wearing only natural fiber clothing as i learned the difficult way that one should avoid polys and other man made fabrics. Can you tell me what else i can possibly try? It's 27 degrees here today so i'm sure the icy compounds it as well. It was 70 degrees yesterday and routinely fluctuates like that. Does that contribute to the dryness as well?

Open Question: Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's "The Cross of Snow" analysis?

For the first time in a year or so, I read "The Cross of Snow." When rereading it, I remember a question that I pondered when first reading the poem- What exactly does the mountain symbolize? Here is the poem, if you are not familiar with it: In the long, sleepless watches of the night, A gentle face -- the face of one long dead -- Looks at me from the wall, where round its head The night-lamp casts a halo of pale light. Here in this room she died; and soul more white Never through martyrdom of flame was led To its repose; nor can in books be read The legend of a life more benedight. There is a mountain in the distant West That, sun-defying, in its deep ravines Displays a cross of snow upon its side. Such is the cross I wear upon my breast These eighteen years, through every the changingscenes I know this poem was about the death of a loved one. Therefore, it would make sense that the mountain is a symbol of grief. However, I think the line that describes a cross on his chest, is a symbol of his grief. Because of that, the mountain seems to symbolize the martyrdom of his loved one. Am I correct with thinking that?

Open Question: does the below question violate community quidelines?

Is the information good? Does the content of the letter prove that Michael the archangel is not Jesus christ as some claim? Dear Howard, This is not so much about the content of the scripture as much as it is about who is speaking and who is gift. This is from the New World translation, from the offical site of WWW.Watchtower.org) Daniel chapter nine (Daniel is down praying and Gabriel appears) 20 While I was yet speaking and praying and confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel and letting my request for favor fall before Jehovah my God concerning the holy mountain of my God, 21 and [while] I was yet speaking in the prayer, why, the man Ga´bri·el, whom I had seen in the vision at the start, having been made weary with tiredness, was arriving by me at the time of the evening gift offering. 22 And he proceeded to impart understanding and talk with me and say: “O Daniel, now I have arrive forth to make you have insight with understanding. 23 At the start of your entreaties a word went forth, and I myself have arrive to make report, because you are someone very desirable. So give consideration to the matter, and have understanding in the thing seen. 24 “There are seventy weeks that have been determined upon your people and upon your holy city, in order to terminate the transgression, and to finish off sin, and to make atonement for mistake, and to bring in righteousness for times indefinite, and to imprint a seal upon vision and prophet, and to anoint the Holy of Holies. 25 And you should know and have the insight [that] from the going forth of [the] word to restore and to rebuild Jerusalem until Mes·si´ah [the] Leader, there will be seven weeks, also sixty-two weeks. She will return and be actually rebuilt, with a public square and moat, but in the straits of the times. 26 “And after the sixty-two weeks Mes·si´ah will be clip off, with nothing for himself. “And the city and the holy place the people of a leader that is coming will bring to their ruin. And the end of it will be by the flood. And until [the] end there will be war; what is decided upon is desolations. 27 “And he must keep [the] covenant in force for the many for one week; and at the half of the week he will cause sacrifice and gift offering to cease. “And upon the wing of disgusting things there will be the one causing desolation; and until an extermination, the very thing decided upon will go pouring out also upon the one lying desolate.” (End of chapter, Gabriel done speaking) Daniel chapter 10 2 In those days I myself, Daniel, happened to be mourning for three full weeks. 3 Dainty bread I did not eat, and no flesh or wine entered into my mouth, and in no way did I grease myself until the completing of the three full weeks. 4 And on the twenty-fourth day of the first month, while I myself happened to be on the bank of the great river, that is, Hid´de·kel, 5 I also proceeded to lift my eyes and look, and here was a certain man clothed in linen, with his hips girded with gold of U´phaz. 6 And his body was like chrys´o·lite, and his face like the appearance of lightning, and his eyes like fiery torches, and his arms and the place of his feet were like the sight of burnished copper, and the sound of his words was like the sound of a crowd. 7 And I saw, I Daniel by myself, the appearance; but as for the men that happened to be with me, they did not look the appearance. However, there was a great trembling that fell upon them, so that they went running away in hiding themselves. (Who is this Man in fine linen, whith his hips girded with Gold and U'paz and it goes on to say his eyes were like fiery torches and his voice like the sound of a crowd?) Did you notice that it is not the angel Gabriel this time.? Lets continue 8 And I—I was left remaining by myself, so that I saw this great appearance. And there was left remaining in me no power, and my possess dignity became changed upon me to ruination, and I retained no power. 9 And I began hearing the sound of his words; and while I was hearing the sound of his words, I myself also happened to be quick asleep upon my face, with my face to the earth. 10 And, look! there was a hand that touched me, and it gradually stirred me up to [receive] upon my knees and the palms of my hands. 11 And he proceeded to say to me: “O Daniel, you very desirable man, have understanding in the words that I am speaking to you, and stand up where you were standing, for now I have been sent to you.” And when he spoke with me this word, I did stand up, shivering. Notice He speaks of Michael ( the man in fine linen, not Michael though. 12 And he went on to say to me: “Do not be afraid, O Daniel, for from the first day that you gave your heart to understanding and humbling yourself before your God your words have been heard, and I myself have arrive because of your words. 13 But the prince of the royal realm of Persia was standing in opposition to me for twenty-one days, and, loo and, look! Mi´cha·el, one of the foremost princes, came to help me; and I, for my part, remained there beside the kings of Persia. 14 And I have arrive to cause you to discern what will befall your people in the final part of the days, because it is a vision yet for the days [to arrive].” Now notice the difference in Daniels reaction to whom he is speaking and ask yourself why the difference? Could it be because whom he was seeing was the Holy one of Israel??) 15 Now when he spoke with me words like these, I had set my face to the earth and had become speechless. 16 And, look! one similar to the likeness of the sons of mankind was touching my lips, and I began to open my mouth and talk and say to the one who was standing in front of me: “O my lord, because of the appearance my convulsions were turned within me, and I did not retain any power. 17 So how was the servant of this my lord able to talk with this my lord? And as for me, up to now there kept standing in me no power, and and no breath at every was left remaining in me.” 18 And the one like the appearance of an earthling man proceeded to touch me again and strengthen me. 19 Then he said: “Do not be afraid, O very desirable man. May you have peace. Be strong, yes, be strong.” And as soon as he spoke with me I exerted my strength and finally said: “Let my lord talk, because you have strengthened me.” 20 So he went on to say: (The man in white linen is speaking now): “Do you really know why I have arrive to you? And now I shall go back to battle with the prince of Persia. When I am going forth, look! also the prince of Greece is coming. 21 However, I shall tell you the things noted down in the writing of truth, and there is no one holding strongly with me in these [things] but Mi´cha·el, the prince of YOU people. (Notice Michael is spoken of working with the man in white linen) Now if you do research in your reference bible you will find out the man in white Linen Is Y'shua, not Michael for Michael as stated over will be working with the man in white linen so they are not one in the same. this may be long but not a rant it is giving every the info needed to explain the question over at the beginning.

Open Question: Colorado winter besides skiing?

My husband and I want to go on a mini trip (2 nights) to Colorado this January or February. But...I'm pregnant and a lot of physical things, like skiing, will be off limits. I'm due in May so this will be our last chance to do something, just the 2 of us, before we are parents. Sort of a "babymoon." My question is, where would be a nice place to go and what nice of activities? We mainly want to go for the scenery and peacefulness. Snowy mountains, etc. Maybe somewhere romantic. Due to me being pregnant, nightlife (bars) and skiing are off limits. We're also on a budget.

Open Question: Could someone please provide feedback on my Statement of Interest intro paragraph?

Please help, I need to receive this out tonight and my brain is no longer working. I am a biologist applying to graduate school. I just want to know if it sounds good and has logical flow. Here is the paragraph: "Anyone who has climbed over a 13,000-foot mountain pass to camp in a sub-freezing basin can attest to the humbling reminder, by the pip of a pika or the caw of a nutcracker, that humans are clumsy visitors in that setting. Evidence is ubiquitous that life is not a fragile creation, but one that endures in even the most inhospitable environments. When biodiversity is divided into the categories of ecosystem, species, and genetic diversity, the possible adaptations for the persistence of life appear limitless. However, each of these adaptations arose from a unique, localized set of mechanisms; complex organisms in particular may have a decreased ability to adapt to severe environmental change. The long-term viability of life as we know it is dependent on adaptive flexibility, and thus diversity, at multiple scales. Today, there is an increased risk for loss of this diversity, predominantly because of wide-spread and homogenizing anthropogenic factors such as habitat destruction, climate change, and the spread of invasive species. It is within the context of this risk that I aim to understand the forces generating patterns of diversity, particularly species richness in vertebrates." Addition: Thanks, Savannah. Do you think it would help if I deleted the third sentence? Anyone I am sending this to will relate to climbing a mountain for field research (particularly the professor I'm submitting it to) so I guess we're a bunch of masochists. =) I can't figure out how to make that first sentence better and still be eloquent...I know it needs reworking somehow. The relax of the statement is much more direct and starts with "I" a lot...

Open Question: I can't decide to drop out or not.?

I've lived in this city for the past.... 9 or ten years of my life. Before I lived there, my family moved around every year, so finally having a place to settle and call "home" was nice. You could say I sort of became "part of the city", everywhere I went people would be like "Sup how you been?", stuff along those lines. This place is totally my home. I was one of the people who was known -every over the place-, by every age groups. This past summer though, we moved to a town across the state. I figured this would be chilly, I'll make this place my home, too. Unfortunately, I was greeted by hoards of racists, protesters, every around this has proven to be a pretty unpleasant place. It's a tiny little town where everyone has lived here most of their life, so they're not really open to "outsiders", especially from the "big city". Everyone here thinks I'm either too ostentatious or I'm just every around a weirdo, and with the exception of maybe a tiny handful of folks, my whole school has already exocommunicated me, deigning me the "freak on campus". The people up here are really close minded and don't have that great of a grasp of the "real world". I guess moving from a big-dog military city to a little-town-on-the-prairie type place in the mountains sort of does that . . . I really just want to drop out and go back home. I can finish up my diploma down there at the local community college, they have a program there for kids who can't "handle" the school environment for whatever reason. The downside is, I'd be moving out on my possess. I have plenty of people that are willing to take me in, but having to tell my family that i'm dropping out because of something inane as, "i'm lonely here, living here for 5 months without getting anything but jeers and insults i want to go home" probably isn't going to make me very welcome. My older sister did the same thing (due to other reasons, she was a drug addict or something) and even though she came out with a diploma and a college degree, she still isn't welcome around the home. My parents aren't exactly the most "loving", they disapprove of almost everything I do and sort of let me do whatever I feel like as long as they don't have to talk to me. I talk to my mom like once a day, and my dad whenever I look him (he works those 13-hour shifts though, so that's not often). Our conversations are generally "hey mom" "did you cook dinner?" "not yet, i'll do it now" "i left you a note asking you to do it hours ago" "sorry mom". She communicates through notes left on my computer. lovely family life. In my eyes, it's a great plan. I receive to finish school back home with the people I care about, I receive to graduate with the people I've gone to school with for every of highschool. Hell, I'll actually be graduating over a semester early since I'm a "gifted" kid and got to skip a grade. It's not that I'm a stupid kid that wants to drop out to go smoke pot and drink. I've taken AP and advanced courses my whole life, I'm dual-enrolled in college right now to start on my psychology degree. I just can't deal with this. Back home I was able to cope with my family thinking I'm the cause of every problems because I had a whole city of friends to keep me company and let me know I'm a little more than useless, but now that I'm every the way over here it's just... gosh. What do you think? sorry it was a little long ;_ ; in response to that, anthony, I actually have a job. That's another reason I'm in favor of dropping out, I could receive much more hours if I wasn't at school 8-10 hours a day. I receive paid really well and overtime is offered if I ask for it, but with school waking me up at 5-6am and keeping me busy until 4, it's nice of difficult to receive every the hours in. >__< thanks everyone i appreciate it. n__n i'd like to disagree with you on some points, though. most of the negative attention on me at school is just through my appearance. I have piercings, I like to draw graffiti on my notebooks in sharpies, I wear obama stickers on my car and I have a hispanic flag on a necklace. people have called me out on being a "nigger loving freak" and that sort of shit... for the most part I haven't really talked unless spoken to just because i don't have much in common with anyone. I really just think it's the people here are sort of hillbillies is what makes it sort of awkward. as for my college classes, they end in three weeks!! i'm excited for my final, actually. i'm sure i'll receive a 100 <3

Me and my friends started to climb the mountain .David was more height of us, I was below him and I controlled other pal. I felt responsible for them and for their life in that situation. On of them began to breath in odd way and I immediately asked to him: Hey Luis, what's happens? And he yelled: Nothing! don't worry. It's ok. Open Question: I Wish... - My latest work. Can you tell me what you think about it?

I would really appreciate your feedback on my poem. every criticism is welcome. If you don't like it, hit me with it good. I Wish... I wish that I could write a poem about Trees and The sky and The sea and Birds and Animals and Flowers and Laughter and sunlight and colors and… And you. I wish that it could correlate the way that The stars move with the way That you make me feel. I wish that it would explain how you Are the one who is holding together The existence of everything. I wish that it could enlighten you with the Knowledge that you and I belong To each other and not anyone else. I wish that it would create an inseparable bond Between us and hold us together for Infinite days in the future. I wish that it could make you understand That I can make you happier than You have ever been in your life. I wish that I would tell you every of this With my voice and show you Exactly how much you mean to me. I wish that I could do more than Write a poem about how I feel That you will never look. I wish that I could tell you about Clouds and Beauty and Mountains and Joy and adore and Destiny and Forever and you and me and… And us. This isn't my first... Maybe my 30th or so.
